‘Who you are, what your values are, what you stand for, they are your north star. You won’t find them in a book. You’ll find them in your soul.’
Anne M. Mulcahy

Aloha,

How have you all been faring in January?

With the pandemic still affecting so many people’s lives, businesses, and our society as a whole on an unprecedented scale, along with continuous conflicts and various disruptions happening in our world, going back to what we once thought was normal seems a distant dream.

So, the question is, how do you keep forging your own path and find your own answers in these times of uncertainty? I believe at this time it is even more important to go deeper within and ask ourselves the right questions, such as:

  • Who am I?
  • What are my values?
  • What is most meaningful to me?
  • How can we support each other on our paths?
  • And ultimately why am I brought to this beautiful Earth?

To answer these questions, it may be helpful to look at them in a larger context and learn from those who came before us. It is one of my biggest passions to study and learn from ancient civilizations.

I love travelling to sacred sites and vortexes for direct experiences because this is one of the best ways for me to open my heart and connect with the wisdom stored in these places and the universal field and learn how to best navigate through life.

Before we returned home to Hawaii from Switzerland, Eunjung and I went on a 2-week road trip through many stunning places of beauty and sacred sites in nature such as the Grand Sand Dunes National Park, Mesa Verde, the Aztec Ruins National Monument, Chaco Canyon, and the Garden of the Gods located in Colorado and New Mexico.

I learned through my journeys through many sacred sites around world that people from the ancient civilizations, whether they be ancient Egyptians, Inca people, native American Indians (ancestral Puebloans and Anasazi people in the case of Chaco Canyon and Mesa Verde), ancient Hawaiians among others, had special, often advanced knowledge about the movement of the stars and how the changes in the sky affect their earthly life.

They used this knowledge in many aspects of their society, such as architecture, agriculture, natural navigation, and religious/spiritual ceremonies. Many important structures such as places of worship were aligned with the solstices or equinoxes and other star constellations.

While these days most people depend on GPS for navigation, Pacific Islanders or Polynesians used natural navigation aids such as stars, the sun, ocean currents and other signs of nature to find their ways across vast reaches of the Pacific Ocean.

They also used what’s called the Hawaiian star compass, a knowledge of the movement of the stars. If they were able to identify the stars as they rise and set, these wayfinders always found direction for themselves and their communities.

Wouldn’t you agree that when you go through life, you are both exploring outer and inner worlds? To navigate your inner world and fulfill your highest destiny, wouldn’t it be so helpful if you can learn how to best align your inner star compass with your North Star?

In my book, Hawaiian Rebirth, I wrote a chapter called Mapping your inner landscape. It describes my experiences while I was creating an orienteering map at an altitude of almost 9000 feet in a beautiful pristine area located in Colorado 5 years ago.

Reading this chapter will inspire you find your North Star as it contains questions and tips you can work with on how to live your life more fully on purpose. As my gift for the new year, I would like to gift you this chapter of my book to you, which you can download HERE.

If you already have my book, then I recommend re-reading this chapter. And please reach out to me if you need a guide to help you navigate through any unfamiliar terrain of your life. I am here for you.

I wish you a happy belated New Year, and that you will get even more clear what really matters most to you.

With love, Yves
